Ozone - Instinct Light XC 10m 2009

The Ozone Instinct Light XC has come of age in 2009. No longer can it be viewed as just a school or beginners kite, this new generation is truly the perfect crossover kite for all levels of rider.

Progressive power delivery, sharper handling and better all-round performance means that from school to wave or even unhooked the Ozone Light 09 XC packs the perfect punch to progress safely and stress free.

For 2009 the complete Ozone Instinct Range has be redesigned with Rob Whittall working his magic.  He has been designing Ozone's paragliders and depower foils for years and now has taken back over working on the water and land kites.  He has simplified the design by taking to 4 lines and given each kite a more progressive direct feel with customisation.  If you have seen earlier Ozone Water Kites and were not taken with the feel it is really worth taking a fresh look as these are not the same as they were a few years ago apart from the Build Quality which is top notch Ozone all the way!

Kite only is literally the Kite and the inner lining stuff sack only, not the complete Ozone rucksack which comes with the complete kites.

• No longer one pump for simplicity when changing bladders. Often in the early stages of kiting the kite can take a hammering and also in the waves. For this reason we have have taken the one pump off the light this year which makes it more robust.
• Increased bar pressure for a better feel of the kite which makes it more intuitive to fly through the wind range.´
• Two handling options- tractor (slower with more bar pressure to have time for the beginner to react) and hot rod (faster lighter bar pressure if you are used to kiting; reacts quicker for wave riding)
• Modified profile increased camber for more grunt and bar pressure.
• Tube Size- increased to accommodate 4 lines and assist with relaunch due to better flotation.
• Modified Plan Form- smoother leading edge curve, to help it roll up on its tip to come off the water quicker.
• Optimized Strut Placement- the outer strut has been moved towards the root for better sail control and to reduce trailing edge flutter- also helps the tip flex for better handling.
• Tube and Top Surface Attachment- Millimeter precise optimization of both the tube size and top surface panels gives us the cleanest leading edge in the business. This enables the air to accelerate quickly over the smooth surfaces enhancing performance across the range.

The big difference for ‘09 is the advent of having four line kites instead of five without sacrificing the Ozone feeling. The entire range has a more powerful, smoother and progressive feel than ever before. The Ozone ‘Sweet Spot’ is now much wider, a ‘Sweet Range’ if you like. The bar pressure gives better feedback to the rider and the de-power trim strap is more effective without sacrificing feel or handling when engaged. The Light XC and Sport+ both have two settings for fast and light or slower and heavier handling, giving every rider the opportunity to set the kite up for individual preference. The list goes on but space does not…
