This weekend the ATBA-UK Mountainboarding event tour came knocking on our doorstop at our local track in Badbury Clump near Faringdon so we had to get over to say hello and snap a few pics. \u00a0The day was a scorcher and the trees were creating some well needed shade for the riders but everyone was still roasting in pads and walking back up the track. \u00a0The track in Badbury Clumps woods in Faringdon, Oxfordshire was built with permission of the Forestry Commission by local riders and ATBShop over 12 years ago and more recently the National Trust and ATBA-UK brought it back to life after a lot of damage from diggers felling trees in the area it is one of the only free to use tracks in the UK designed with mountainboards in mind. The track was christened Little B! many years ago when it was built as it looks easy but if you ride it clean you keep speeding up and the switchbacks become little B***ards and have claimed many victims over the years! Well little b was living up to it’s name and riding really quick due to the recent weather. \u00a0The whole track had to be rebuilt last year due to foresting and the newer sections have now bedded in nicely and carry the speed that’s needed in the top section.<\/p>\n

The order of the day was downhill mountainboarding timed runs against the clock and the fastest riders were within milli seconds of each other across quite a long track. \u00a0Our own team rider Beiran was hammering it out with Brindy for quickest time on the hill. All the riders were putting in great times though and trying to get the quickest and cleanest line down the track for a consistant time.<\/p>\n

Mountainboarding is as extreme as it is addictive and great fun and relatively easy to get the basics but a lot to master.
