It’s that time of year again when we start doing our bit for charity! On Thursday 20th February 2014 we’re hosting our Romanian Dogs Charity Event from 10am until 9pm.
You may have seen that we had a new recruit here at ATBShop Skate Warehouse her names Chloe. She has come over from Romania (legally we might add as everyone keeps asking) and has had a pretty bad start in life living as a stray outside a school. I can’t mention on here how badly she’s been treated as it’s far to upsetting for our younger audience but how she is so loving and trusting I’ll never know.
We’ve also recently sent off two of our very close Skate Warehouse friend’s – team rider Luke Prout and Keith Leahy founder of “SNAPS” (Swindon Needs a Proper Skate Park). Their mission was to take much needed donations from the UK – Dog beds, blankets food etc over to Romania and to bring back 15 dogs to safety in the UK. These dogs were rescued from public shelters where they would have 14 days to find a home before they’d be killed. Sadly most of these shelters offer very little or no food or water for the dogs, let alone bedding, so most dogs would be lucky to make it to 14 days. The situation is dreadful for them and isn’t a pleasant one.
Thanks to rescue groups based over in Romania and in the UK we’re starting to make a difference but when you’re over there you realise it’s only a small one. Saving just a handful of dogs may seem like not much in the grand scale of things but to a dog like Chloe it means the world. We want to do our bit for these pups and to hold a big charity day.
As always this event is going to be huge. We always start the day off with a 10’s and under session from 10am until 12pm. There will be tons of fun party games to be played and prizes to be won. Hopefully there will be some face painters on hand as well and children’s entertainers to entertain. After parents club (10’s and under session) there will be a mixed session running from 12-3pm and then 3-6pm and then 6pm-9pm.
During these sessions there will be lots going on – like games of SKATE & SCOOT being played with prizes. We’re also running a mini comp, so make sure you get some practice in for the day on the mini. There will be a huge cake sale, BBQ , Raffle and lots of other competition going on with throw outs.
There will also be a box for collections on the day for dog food, bedding, bowls, treats, treatments, collars etc so if you’d like to donate then we can post any donations off to our shelters in Romania. As ever we will need your help and support to please get in touch if you can help.

- And lots more ideas on how to raise money for these pups.
