Providing the absolute highest level of protection for an avalanche scenario that nobody wants to be in, the Ortovox Free Rider 22L Ava Bag combines all the the mountaineering essentials with state of the art air bag system that once deployed, is designed to keep your head above the slide and protect against any impacts on the way down. They say you can never be too prepared but in this case, we believe you can be prepared enough!

So where do we start when there is soo much to talk about, weighing in at only 2130g with the Ava Bag the Free Rider 22 is remarkably lightweight despite all of its features. Using a redeveloped SPS Flex back protector which features eight flexible impact pads that harden on impact and remain comfortable in even the coldest of conditions, the Free Rider 22 has all the attachment points you will ever need including a snowboard/ snowshoe attachment, Diagonal Skii Fix attachment, hydration system compatible, Ice axe and hiking pole attachment, Fixed helmet net, Key holder, Emergency card and a dedicated compartment for emergency tools such as shovel and probe etc. 

With 22L of fully utilisable space around the Ava-bag there is plenty of space to chuck in an extra jumper, drink and a few snacks for the way up to the top of the mountain. The inside of the backpack has been brightened up with lighter colours for better visibility during low visibility scenarios while the heavy duty aluminium buckle on the hip belt not only secures the pack comfortably and reduces the amount of weight on the back and shoulders, but also offers additional storage options for a phone and snack etc.

The Ortovox Ava Bag system allows you to practice deploying the bag without the use of the cartridge (sold separately)- PLEASE NOTE: the Ortovox Ava Bag will not work in an emergency scenario without a full and fitted cartridge.
