STX inflatable SUP Performance Tourer Paddleboard

The STX Performance Tourer Paddle board is perfect for river touring and on the sea. It's design has evolved from the classic tourer and is race led with new hard nose cone and wider grip plus the hard rail at the tail and thinner width along with the FXL material it's pushing the boundaries. The 12ft 6in x 30in version is ideal for smaller riders and more manoeuvrability and also ideal for those wanting to race in the 12ft 6in class races. Then the 14ft offers more glide for distance and fits in the 14ft race classes.

Although this board is called the stx performance tourer it should really be called the performance race if we were naming it! We noticed the improvement over the standard 12ft 6in Race STX on the river.

The new features that are obviously different to the standard Tourer is the new hard nose cone that cuts through water like a hardboard along with a flatter rockerline more like a hard sup. Then the deck grip is built up at the sides where the main paddle area is so you can step closer to the rail in a wide stance on a narrower board. Underneath at the back then we have a US fin box with a race style fin allowing customisation and also a hard rail all round the back and sides of the tail to give clean water exit. 

All in all these new features all add marginally to an already great construction to offer extra performance over the standard board.  We really noticed the difference in paddling compared to the 12ft6 standard race board we are used to.The manoeuvrability and tracking are great on both sizes with it able to hold a straight line great and also pivot on the tail when you need it to in the corners. The FXL material has suddenly given these boards a huge weight and stiffness advantage before you add in the new extras.
