Stash the quiver, clear your mind, and let the Tesseract be your versatile companion in the quest for four-wheeled illumination. The Tesseract integrates rocker, wheel well flares, W concave, and multiple wheelbase options into a lightweight package designed for big mountain roads, high speeds, snappy slides, lofty ollies, and techy manual combos. Escape the three-dimensional confines of contemporary skateboarding and embrace the fourth dimension.

The Name: Tesseract

Close your eyes. Imagine “seeing” all six sides of a cube simultaneously. Ancient mystics used this as a meditation technique. They claim it’s doable. Our standard methods of perceiving the world around us limit our perspective in a very literal sense. Just because you have two eyes and see in three projected dimensions doesn’t mean your imagination needs to work the same way.

The name Tesseract, referring to a 4-dimensional hypercube, is a challenge to go beyond self- and externally-imposed perspectives. The board is designed to be versatile, to blend existing skate genres, and to be a vehicle with which to explore beyond what has already been established.

"How we see, should not limit what we see".

CONSTRUCTION

Two layers of custom fiberglass/epoxy skins sandwich two vertically-laminated bamboo cores to create a stiff yet light and damp structure. Laminated to the bottom of the board is a layer of cork which provides vibration damping and (as we learned to our surprise during testing) a significant level of durability. The granular, non-directional structure of the cork helps prevent abrasive damage from propagating (in contrast to a traditional wood or bamboo veneer with long, oriented fibers).

The tessellated pattern in the cork is generated in 4-dimensional space and can only be fully understood if you lick it.

ROCKER

Symmetrical rocker throughout the deck cups the outer edges of your feet and creates a subtle locked-in sensation, helping you stay firmly planted in slides and facilitating confident and natural movement up and down the length of the board. Additionally, rocker slightly lowers your center of gravity for enhanced stability.

WHEEL WELL FLARES

The Tesseract features flared wheel wells that increase wheel clearance and also create surface transitions that provide lateral and longitudinal support for your feet, both inside the trucks and on the kicktails. These flares promote board awareness and keep your feet locked into a compound contoured pocket while sliding, cornering, and tucking.

"W" CONCAVE

We've designed the Tesseract with an intuitive W concave to enhance rider control in all toeside maneuvers. The central hump is tall yet wide, providing strong lateral support near the transitions without compromising arch comfort. The W concave on the Tesseract follows a mellow elliptical profile and fades gradually in amplitude approaching the trucks, disappearing 3/4" behind the innermost mounting holes. This design allows the inside edges of your feet to nestle up against the W (for toeside slides) while also allowing the outside of your foot to rest in a more radial dish just behind the flared wheel wells (for comfort while tucking on long downhill runs). Progressive yet mild rail concave provides optimal edge control without sacrificing comfort.

SYMMETRICAL SHAPE

The Tesseract's outline shape is designed for maximum functionality and versatility. A slight taper toward the kicktails places the greatest width at the center of the board (for rear-foot leverage while tucking in a shorter stance) but is mild enough to keep the deck wide at the neck, over the bolts, and on the tails for plenty of leverage and control in a variety of stances. Completely symmetrical shape and contours guarantee that the Tesseract is ready for anything you throw its way--in any stance or orientation.

KICKTAILS

Designed to satiate both freeride and freestyle appetites, the Tesseract is endowed with tailored kicktails to get the job done with gusto. The width has been dialed in to provide exceptional toe and heel edge control, and the length and upturned tips generate powerful pop and accommodate the entire width of your foot. Subtle dished concave keeps your shoes glued to the board and aids in catching tricks into manuals and pivots. The contours of the kicktails blend in a tight transition with the outer surfaces of the wheel well flares to create compound contoured pockets for your feet both over and outside of the bolts, contributing to enhanced control for manuals and 360 slides.

VARIABLE WHEELBASE

The Tesseract offers both 24.5" and 26" wheelbase options, allowing you to fine tune your setup based on your riding style and specific truck geometry. Move your axles in for quicker pop, increased agility, higher traction, and lower swing weight; move

GRAPHICS

When presented a cork canvas to work on, two distinct reference were evident. One was a grandparents’ mid-century cork lamp (strangely out of place in their Francophile home). Second, was an interest and training in the International (Swiss) Style. Given the complexity and diversity of the board, a pursuit of simplicity in the design was in order. A focus on a solid color field cube created interesting and organic looking opacity changes when printed on the cork. This play with natural textures against the contrived cubic print creates an emphasis on the craft of the board as a whole.

GRIPTAPE

Aggressive, low-grip griptape covers the entire deck and wraps over the rails near the wheel well flares for extra friction in all manner of sticky sliding situations.

WHEELS

The Tesseract’s powerful pop and lightweight construction pair best with a light and small wheel for freestyle and technical freeride enthusiasts. We ride Orangatang Fat Frees (65mm) to keep the ollies high and swing weight low. Scale up to a mid- to high-diameter wheel such as Orangatang Stimulus (70mm), Morongas (72.5mm), or Durians (75mm) for higher roll speed, smoother performance on rough pavement, and increased longevity.

For downhill applications, the Tesseract can accommodate up to an 80mm race wheel. Be sure to fine tune your setup with the appropriate hardware (risers, bushings, washers) to provide the performance you’re after, and always check for wheelbite before you ride.
